Lately there's been talking on the streets The tides are turning every way there is The other day I saw a shadow painted on a wall And I don't really know what year it is Or how I'm stuck in the middle of all this Well it don't take a genius to figure this one out Silence breaks before you hear the sound The sound which foretells the end of all you've known Nothing's calm before the storm, or so I've been told Lift me high above then let me down Let me feel the splash down to the ground One thing out of two shall crash The Earth will shatter or it will be me Lately there's been whispers on the streets The air is heavy, filled with treason fuelled by grief Doesn't every empire's turmoil Come from those who were scorned? The only thing you'll see then is a flash The kind that hurts your eyes and leaves you blind to witness The darkness lying inside your wretched head And then you'll wonder where you are Oh, my poor friend I hate to tell you: It's all you I don't wanna be the kind to run Run, run, run, when battle has begun Maybe when all this has ended Then I can start Let me hear your voice out of the crowd Let me know you're waiting past the cloud Make a promise you can keep And I'll be strong to see that day arrive Find each other and walk to the light

This place is downright hollow I sing the lyrics to them songs of truth But no one sings along Done Here I find no meaning The words are spoken but the point remains On a leash, they just don't care So if I go Don't bother waiting I'm so far gone now And heading further away I crossed the woods Sat by the river Played music under the stars That I don't seem to touch It's the little things that mean so much To me, what would you say now? I've been away and back so many times now The world goes on and on I've fallen down Then I rose to fly up Just to keep on falling, falling again Just to get back up Woo Hoo! So if I go Don't bother waiting I'm so far gone now And heading further away I crossed the woods Sat by the river Played music under the stars That I don't seem to touch It's the little things that mean so much to you The one who's been living for someone else's life Take no time to think twice for this crazy balance is disguised as choice So now I go Don't bother waiting I'm so far gone now, yeah And heading further away I crossed the woods Sat by the river Played music under the stars That I don't seem to touch I always triumph Except for when I don't One battle's over Till the next one I'm misplaced Now there's a place that I am going It's been on my mind so long It's time to make it real I saved their ass And I lost everything For what it's worth I don't regret one single thing Now it's too late to stop me, don't try My starlight's tried to take me there But roads were swaying (So much to do!) But the little things (They kept me going!) The little things (In a place so hollow) The little things They mean so much to me

Maybe I was born to be unkind Maybe you'll be here after I die Maybe it's a different world Compact tapes and plastic phones, alright Maybe you were made to rule the world Truth is power, leverage, all in all Rolling wheels or Rolling Stones Follow Jack out on the road, alright Come on, dance through a life That's a shrine to the blind Blind is justice, blind is love Maybe blind is all we are Maybe I'm the one who saves the day Maybe you're a different kind today Maybe you were made to see the light Secondhand resistance can't be bad You say what you want to Jack Moriarty is on the run, alright If their shades pass you by You may catch their weeping eyes Crying for justice, crying for love Crying for all the world has done And if you don't think twice That's okay, we're still alive Reciting lines of ancient poetry That savor every sin Maybe I'm the one who saves the day Maybe you're a different kind today Maybe I'm allowed to get so much more than I deserve Or maybe I prefer the long way home

I don't know if it's a win or lose Lady Luck has got me playing dice with the Blues And I don't know if it's wrong or right I just wanna drink with you tonight Came upon a crossroad with a heavy head "Come with me" she told me "for to share your game" Went along the levee and the whiskey bars Strummed a chord for one-eyed freaks on Blues guitars Don't it make you wanna die? Tis too much to say goodbye I don't know if it's a win or lose Lady Luck has got me playing dice with the Blues And I don't know if it's wrong or right I just wanna drink with you tonight 700 dollars plus some hundred more to go It's good to be the king and feeling high and low Come on Robert Johnson, let your own muse show I've been away with nowhere to go, then I'll know When I'm coming out again Walk me through and help me out again I don't know if it's a win or lose Lady Luck has got me playing dice with the Blues And I don't know if it's wrong or right I just wanna drink with you tonight I just wanna drink with you tonight I just wanna drink with you tonight I just wanna drink, I just wanna drink I just wanna drink with you tonight

Nightcap 04:37
I know I'm not allowed to say the things I've said before I know, but I don't recognize this ugly face no more But you are not to blame for this old heart "I know it's late" you said "but I could really use that drink" I'll take up on that offer, it'll give her time to think I'm sorry but I can't think anymore "Don't let my features blur" you asked "now that we've drunk too much" Don't worry, you're entitled to my senses for the night I feel I've squandered everything but those Stain my soul When I lose it all If I'm greedy bite me bloody If I'm sorry drive me frantic Come and take me on When I lose control I'm not shy, I'm not resistant You're depraved, let's go the distance I don't have a goal I just want it all I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know Intoxicated crazy girl, the end is drawing near You kiss me, pushing me to think of where do we go from here But I'm sorry, I just can't think anymore

Mr. Poly 04:35
Mr. Poly, can you move your mouth? Is it me, or are you frowned? The other day you passed out on the floor People talk, well they don't know No one knows about your enemies Your trotted tears and long dead bliss Maybe it's the child in you or the old man in my soul I feel I've gathered more than words can hold And then you whispered 'bout a girl That was the truest thing I'd ever heard you say Something in your wistful eyelids made me see Maybe she was your only friend Mr. Poly, I have been around I've seen a lot, I've cried aloud I've been a loser and a victor, been a time and space collector Bathed my sins in blood and alcohol But when I hear you talk about her I think of some forgotten laughter Takes me back to things I thought I'd lost I mused over some thoughts unwritten as I lay down all drunk and beaten Wondering if such things may come again And then you told me "Bravo son That was the purest thing that you could ever say" Oh Mr. Poly, still I'm whimsically insane Maybe I don't get someone Mr. Poly, I have turned my back Countless times, imagine that Now I know this funny little game Is just a means with no end

My term of surrender is a delicate present to give But what can I say when you don't seem to care what it is? Bitter grace Gone without a trace My make and believe is my own misadventure tonight The only thing left when I talk to myself and I type The only illusion is time I'm not gonna go, you just might The night has a purpose to rob hesitation of me And you should've looked when she stripped me for your eyes to see If you only knew what you had If I only knew what I had I'd keep you from turning and gleefully boarding a boat You say it's too late, and I ask you "Hey, when was it not?" And now you're off to a new start You thought I was leaving. You are The night has a purpose to serve, and we did our best Outside of the window the world burned but we didn't care A decadent intimacy Was painted with pleasure you breathed out The rationalization you plundered, well, I can see past A reason or two in your eyes on a clumsy last dance But time's ticking out with the clock It may be illusive, but trust me, I'm not I'm not your malevolent asshole, though I sure ain't the best The night had me stripped when we lay close, why didn't you get it, hold it, make it your own Now the sun is coming up You're up in the clouds and I'm still stuck
10.
I'm flirting with a peddler She's a fortune teller Said she's gonna take me far from here Then I'd forget your laughter Run off forever after The sky's the limit, but atmosphere's my goal Yes, I am a sinner But baby, you're my winner Maybe I can tell the right from wrong Outside the season's turning Inside my heart is yearning For something real to find me on the way Maybe you're allowed to see The future I neglected When I told you long ago, that day would come I may be gone forever Or is it just December? When I bended over backwards to be free So get me on with a kick Kick me out on the street Kick me out with an orange juice and a pack of booze 'Cause this life is imitating art And art's another word for denial When I'm all alone again This is neither life or death It's somewhere in between A purgatory I have kept in store A million cars, one million stars Won't get me where I'm going 'Cause everything from this day on is partly fantasy Let's talk about this condition It's truth and also fiction It's music, novels, paintings on the wall Your heroes are complaining They think you're just observing But they're already dead enough to not have to care about you You, who turned your back On the promises you made Were you even brave enough to try? Just keep track of those heroes 'Cause one day I'll join them, watch It's all part of this role we like to play I wish somebody told me a better way

Spinner 06:41
Yesterday you got up on your feet and learned to walk But tonight your feet can't walk at all Wasn't it last season when you dropped dead where you stood? Come tomorrow won't you sell your soul? When the path starts radiating colors, that's your queue Right now all you see is black and blue Don't you drop your backpack, all you got is all you are If I did know any better I'd hold on to mine All hail, the King is dead Free wine and cigarettes Consumer's notice: Tread with care Our Lady proudly stands Takes care of all your friends If you ain't got one that's a shame Rain check for those who wait Enjoy the masquerade There's nothing I can say When you spin me like a bottle and you drive me insane Where we are now's nothing but the place we'll all end up Maybe we are nowhere anyhow Suddenly the lights die then I see your future home Oh you look so lovely, then you're gone, you're gone and you're gone - gone Then the lights reappear I see them bones and scream "Doesn't matter" she shouts, "you'll forget" A mirror cracks and breaks Spills blood all over the place I'm fine, hello, now, where are you? No proper dialogue Takes place in real time Time bears no essence When they spin me like a record and I start, start playing No other sacrilege Looks good in retrospect I finally know what I believe I know what's left, what's right The fourth dimension kind I'm not lost but I wander on my own The choice of being free Extracts a heavy fee I'm good, I'm bad And I'll spin around the world starting tonight

Coins, they have a few heads and some tails Who am I to lead this pack of heroes? What it is you seek? The truth Well, half the truth is lies that you believe in Now half a bottle's empty, that's our flame against the dark So take my hand before we're both extinguished Rebels, rogues, or traitors, the same We picked the road but chose no better way Warm homes, they've turned cold Now I'm finding words I thought I'd never spoken Look up, can you see the same old stars as me? Or something else entirely Oh say, can you see the sky wouldn't lie to me Unless there's nothing else to find Me, I just got one head and a tale Flip me fair, I just might share The ending or at least some chapters Written about you and me And I won't have to run around And fight to save the day I'll be saving night time instead I'll be saving night time again Look up, suddenly I don't see anything We're somewhere else entirely Oh my, please believe, the sky wouldn't lie to me I guess there's nothing left to find

Blood came out dripping He was nailed down to the floor Set out to break your chains You'll end up rattling more They didn't even flinch When he took that final blow They didn't really care, well they don't know He's alive, he sees the truth Maybe you can see it too Those who loved you, crucified Keep the monster satisfied First they called her traitor 'Cause she didn't praise their flag She raised her middle finger And then lit the whole place up They didn't even ask her Why she'd done the things she'd done "Cast the first stone" said the judge But she's alive, she sees the truth Maybe I can see it too Ask her name and meet her soul Paint her shadow on the wall Who are you reaching for When praying to your God If He was really listening I'd picture him quite sad See, I'm the one you crucified But I got out just in time On the run and out of mind I'm alive, I see the truth Maybe they can see it too Will they know about all I've done Before I stop caring as much Will you break your ball and chain Spread your wings and fly away Or will you go back to look For some imitated truth (We're alive we see the truth) (Maybe they can see it too) (We're the ones who draw the line) (First to run but last to hide) (We're alive we see the truth) (Maybe they can see it too) (Call our names and greet our souls) (Paint our shadows on the wall)

about

'Rebels, Rogues, Traitors' is a poignant tale of the Athenian kind. Not the one most people will tell you though. This one is uttered in the shadows, where reality as you know it meanders along a pathway you were instructed to forget, rendering it a lie, a mere fairytale. Turns out fairytales are true, and a lot darker than you believed.
